Youth Participant or Trekker
To join is simple–we just need parent(s) to fill out the Medical History and Release Form and you need to fill out the Informed Consent and Code of Conduct Form. These forms should be returned to Adirondack Treks, PO Box 23, Johnsburg, NY 12843 at least a week before the first trip you take. They are good for a program year (June to June) and then will need to be updated.
Guide in Training aka GIT (ages 15-18)
Guide in Training – If you are a young person with considerable experience in the woods, a hiker, a paddler or whitewater boater, or a rock climber, then we encourage you to become a G.I.T. As a guide in training, you would help the leader with the group. You must be willing to take wilderness first aid/CPR or the equivalent. If you wish to join as a GIT, you will need to submit the Medical history and Release Form, the Informed Consent and Code of Conduct Form, as well as a GIT application.
Parent Participant
Treks exists for parents and their kids. Because we recognize the value of parents spending time with their children, we encourage parents to hike, paddle, climb, camp, or ski with us as co-leaders. You can be a rank beginner as there is no time like the present to learn. Parents can also participate by helping with transportation or with fund-raisers. If you co-lead on a trek, for safety reasons, the leader will need to know any pertinent health-related issues. We ask you to send the trip leader the Parent Information Form at least a week before the event.
Adult Volunteer Guide
Adult Volunteer Guide – So you are 18 or older, an experienced outdoors person who enjoys volunteering with kids? Or a parent with considerable experience? We need you to co-lead, to teach, and to plan trips. Please fill out our Treks Guide Application which should be mailed to: Treks, PO Box 23, Johnsburg, NY 12843. Questions? Check out our leader page or e-mail Kelly at [email protected] or Rick at [email protected]
