Thursday, Sept. 24 – Leave from school 2:30. Do a quick “warm up hike” in Pack Forest, then on to Rocksport in Queensbury to climb until 7:00 pm. Pick kids up at Wevertown at 8:00 pm. Cost: $15.00 ( $10 for climb, $5.00 for dinner). Pack comfortable clothes, socks, water bottle and snacks. Sunday, Sept. 27 – Outdoor Climb on Crane Mtn with Jay Harrison. Meet at 12:30 pm at Crane Mtn trailhead on Ski Hi Road in Thurman. Pick up at 5:30, same place. Cost: $15. Wear comfortable clothing, hiking shoes, socks and bring rain gear. Also bring snacks, water bottles and bug spray. Friday,Oct 2 – Leave from school at 2:30. Quick “warm up hike” in Warrensburg, on to Rocksport to climb until 9:00 pm. Pick up at Wevertown 10:00 pm Cost: $15.00 ( $ 10 for climb, $5.00 for dinner). Comfortable clothes, socks, watter bottles and snacks. Saturday Oct 17 – Indoor climb at the Crux in Willsboro. Leave Wevertown 1:30pm, return 7:30 pm. Pack snacks, water bottles, comfortable clothes and something to entertain in the car ( 1 1/2 hour car ride up and back). Cost $10.00. Friday October 23 – Indoor climb at Rocksport. Details same as above. Thursday, November 5 – Indoor climb at Rocksport. Details above. Thursday December 10 – Indoor climb at Rocksport. Details above. Saturday, December 19 – Indoor climb at AIR ( Albany) – leave Wevertown 12:00, return 8:00 pm. Cost: $10.00. Pack snacks, water bottle, comfortable clothes and socks, something to entertain in the car.
Rock Climbing: Sunday July 12 and Friday August 7 Sign up with Andrea Hogan 251-9938. Andrea will coordinate transportation to the climbing sites on Lake George. Treks will furnish helmets and harnesses. Climbers need appropriate shoes, lunches, suits and towels, as well as sunscreen. Cost per participant: $15/day for anyone age 10 or older; younger participants must be accompanied by parent.
Kayaking TREKS WHITEWATER KAYAKING: Monday, Wednesday and Friday: July 27, 29, & 31 Sign up with Rick Morse 494-4094 or [email protected]. Rick and another experienced adult will teach the kayaking skills. Kids who have some kayaking experience will assist with instruction as guides-in-training. On Monday we will learn skills at a lake, on Wednesday we will kayak on moving water, and for those who have the skills, on Friday we will kayak on whitewater. Treks and Wild Waters Outdoor Center will provide the kayaks, paddles, helmets, and life jackets. Kayakers need swimsuits, lunches, and towels, as well as sunscreen. Cost per participant: $15/day for anyone age 10 or older; younger participants must be accompanied by parent. There are 6 spots available; first come, first served. Here is some information on TREKS whitewater kayaking this summer. The Friday trip will probably be on the Sacandaga River in Hadley. If enough people volunteer to help out, we will be able to expand the offering. We need adults who can drive and transport kids and boats as well as paddlers. -Rick Adirondack TREKS summer kayaking program will take place during the last week in July. We will meet at Wild Waters Outdoor Center in The Glen on Monday, July 27. We will get outfitted with kayaks and gear and head to a lake to learn how to paddle the kayaks, including how to Eskimo roll. On Wednesday we will head to the Hudson River for some moving water experience. Those who have the skills and the desire will be able to paddle some easier whitewater. On Friday, those who have advanced skills will be able to paddle more challenging whitewater. Times will be 9 am until 3 pm. Thanks to Wild Waters for providing the equipment and use of the pavilion. The cost is $15 per person each day. The co-leaders are Rick Morse and Jordan Haskins. —
Adirondack Treks – Learn Cross Country Skiing – March 2015!
Get out and enjoy this years great snow – learn cross country skiing with Treks! This year’s course starts March 3, 2015. Lessons will be at Johnsburg CS or at the North Creek Ski Bowl Tuesday and Thursday afternoons 2:45PM – 4:45PM.
